I’ve started an email newsletter as an experimental way to share interests, projects, finds, and thoughts in a slightly different format. Instead of convincing people to setup an RSS feed of this site (which doesn’t see much content, admittedly), a digest can be delivered directly to those who want it.
Connection, not broadcast, is the focus of this newsletter, allowing me control over the context in which my work or thoughts are shared.
It’s a semi-public format that allows for concious and thoughtful engagement that lacks tailored algorithms, auto-refreshing content, ads, user tracking, censorship, and swathes of other patterns that exist in many social media platforms. This newsletter is a community-building opportunity and a mechanism for people (mostly close friends) to keep up to date with me in a more information driven way.
That’s the ideal, anyway.
Direct conversational replies to the newsletter are, of course, actively encouraged.
