🪠catch this mix
been a minute huh?
here’s some haiku I wrote while getting crossed up by united airlines before the 24th:
nine hours in transit
through liminal space's void
refunded, at least
time slows to a crawl
here, clocks count millennia
united airlines
basic economy
punished frugality
in boarding group six
bickering neighbors
like a stream’s stones grown threadbare
gate clerk’s monotone
tree bark bare against
brisk breeze waiting nascent leaves —
TSA toe socks.
the screen door’s comfort
mostly aspirational
nutrition through thought
reticent date pits
plucked out of slumber like from
a winter’s warm bed
the watering hole
makes me wonder what it is
that taught you to sit?
many things happened since we last met, though I’ll try to keep as concise as possible by focusing on only the fun things.
I moved to a fun orange house far from home
made a (incomplete) webapp to rank the cats in my household
developed an affinity for extruded aluminum
began learning CAD/CAM to further enable the realization of my whimsy (see: titanium earrings I laser cut)
helped discover a new seamount in the pacific (i know it’s work I’m sorry)
painted many a pastel (oil or otherwise)
made a keyboard (well, two) so as to learn how to design and manufacture a PCB
got a very large piece of wood from a man who runs a sawmill from his basement
I don’t necessarily have any particular point to make here. I’ve spent a lot of time in the last year coming to terms with what expression really means for me, and then executing that in the most intuitive way possible. So in a way, this is that.
talk soon,
